Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
Join Transponder, the University of Oregon, and community for TDOR on Sunday, November 20th @ 3p, to honor the trans and gender diverse lives that were lost in the past year to anti-transgender violence. We want to thank the University of Oregon, UOLGBTESS, and all our wonderful volunteer community members for contributing to this event. Gather together in a community for readings of our loved trancestors and candlelight vigil.
- 3:30p: Reading of the names.
- A guided somatic experience by Steph Young, a movement advocate for expressionist arts, that gives participants a choice level of motion and visualization. Focusing on breathing to produce positive feedback loops and explore locomotion.
- 5p: Candlelight vigil.
There will be spaces for people to leave flowers on the altar as well as a living wall in which people can leave names of loved ones they have lost. If you would like this to be done for you please contact us at tara@transponder.community and include the full name of the individual so that we may add it into the living memorial wall.
This event will have food provided and ASL interpretation available. We are currently receiving information on other events that are happening that day and will update the website periodically.
