About Our Interns

Kelsey and Emily, wearing white tops and black slacks, standing in front of Pacific U's qilin mascot in metal wall art on a brick wallKelsey and Emily are 2nd year students at Pacific University’s School of Occupational Therapy. Emily is from Washington and Kelsey is from New Jersey. Besides being students, they also play rugby as a leisure activity. Kelsey and Emily are so excited to be implementing this workshop in tandem with TransPonder to promote confidence and stability in areas of employment, whether that be helping with makeup or hair, or providing skills to help with interviewing and career success.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy aims to help individuals participate in occupations or activities that they find valuable and meaningful. This could look like helping someone who had a stroke re-learn how to do household activities (i.e. making and eating food, brushing their hair, doing laundry, etc.), or it could look like advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community to be able to participate in cherished activities in safe and supportive environments. Whatever the population, environment, or occupation, occupational therapists’ main objective is to support the clients and their goals.
